On Friday, Judicial Watch confirmed that a warning bulletin for an imminent terrorist attack on our Southern Border has been issued. Specifically, the warning stated that according to “High-level federal law enforcement, intelligence and other sources, the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) is confirmed to now be operating in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez, planning to attack the United States with car bombs or other vehicle born improvised explosive devices”.
The jihadist threat should come as no surprise given the “national-security vulnerability created by the Obama adminstration‘s non-enforcement of the immigration laws”, states Andrew McCarthy of National Review. Even though this comes as no surprise, Americans should be genuinely concerned that ISIS has already exposed this vulnerability. In the words of Middle East expert Brigitte Gabrielle, “ISIS is already here” and many recent examples confirm this.
For instance, in Chicago on Wednesday, Emad Karakrah, 49, led police on a car chase after he threatened police with a bomb while waving an ISIS flag from his vehicle.
During a live report by CNN’s Jake Tapper in Ferguson, Missouri on August 19th, a sign carried by a protester is openly visible declaring “ISIS here”.
Finally, in Washington, D.C. a tweet posted on August 9th by a supporter of ISIS included a photo of an ISIS flag in front of the White House.
In regards to how vulnerable we are to an attack the “fact that they have supporters here in the U.S. who can hold the banner in Missouri and the sign at the White House shows that that is a very real possibility”, states Islam analyst Robert Spencer.
This possibility is quiet serious given the fact that this week alone news broke confirming that two Americans had been killed in Syria while fighting for ISIS. Furthermore, U.S. officials believe that up to 300 Americans are now fighting alongside ISIS and are “poised to become a major threat to the homeland” when they bring their military experienced, moneyed ISIS connections, and enhanced radicalism home.
It is important to note that when confronted by this threat, president Obama admitted on Thursday that “we don’t have a strategy yet” to combat ISIS. This should further come as no surprise as this adminstration has repeatedly failed to acknowledge the existence of Islamist terrorism.
According to the FBI’s most recent national threat assessment for domestic terrorism, radical Islam is actually omitted. It isn’t mentioned once. Instead the real threat to U.S. internal security, according to the FBI comes from “anti-government militia groups, Sovereign citizens, white supremacists and anti-abortion activists”.
By downplaying Islamic terrorism and instead focusing on other “threats”, the Obama adminstration is actively enabling what seems to be an inevitable ISIS attack on our country. When the president himself has set a policy of reaction rather than action, it puts the security of our country in jeopardy.
